The need to have a large dining and gathering space and update the kitchen of this home was the cornerstone of its renovation. The solution was to locate a hallway, powder room and laundry where the old kitchen was located, and then build a new addition with the mudroom, kitchen, sitting and dining area. By pushing the addition out beyond the existing structure, the space could have a high ceiling with octagonal and dormered windows above. The kitchen looks out across the island to the dining area, with views to the lawn and garden, and to the back through glass sliding doors to the new terrace.
