Chestnut

At the center of this project was the issue of a large garage on the property blocking views from the kitchen and deck to a beautiful old tree and the lawn where the children play. The solution included removing the portion of the garage that obstructed views while retaining the rest with the deck above to become a visual and social gathering point.

The deck off the kitchen and garage below had to be extended to provide room for two cars and the driveway had to be lowered to create the proper clearance for the garage doors while protecting the tree and its root system. The new deck has room for a grill, a dining table, a generous seating area, and a trellis and latticed wall to the back to add a little privacy while framing views of the rolling yard and trees.
