The owners wanted the home where they raised their children, and had become part of the community, to also be their retirement home. The challenge of this renovation was to move the primary bedroom from the second floor to the first floor, to be more suitable to aging in place.
The new primary suite addition is off the living room, separated by a short hallway with windows providing privacy and light. The bedroom has a high ceiling and central bay with many windows that view the secluded rear and side yards. The dressing room has built-in cabinetry on all four walls, with a central dresser and a stacked washer and dryer. The primary bath has doors designed for wheelchair access, should the need arise, a double-bowl vanity with backlit round mirrors, and a glass mosaic accent wall. Separated by a pocket door, is the toilet, and an ADA compliant shower with a bench, hand shower, and glass mosaic accent.
